Family-Run Digital Marketing Agency for SMBs

Fanatically Digital was launched in 2013 with the idea that we can provide great digital marketing services and website support services for the owners and managers of SMEs. From our experience, we know that the principals of these companies are focused on their business and don’t have the time to become experts in digital marketing. That’s where Fanatically Digital is positioned to help.

Digital marketing is in our DNA.

My career spans over three decades, with more than 25 of those years spent in digital marketing. I’ve worked at large multinational agencies like Publicis, performance marketing leaders like Leapfrog (now an iProspect agency), and co-founder of a local search agency, 15miles.

I’ve spent time on the “client-side” as well. But, I missed working with a variety of people and industries. So, Mary Beth and I decided that we should start another agency, a family-run agency. That was the beginning of Fanatically Digital.

On the non-business side, I’m an outdoor enthusiast; I travel to exotic locations, I — ok, not really. I enjoy simple things around the home. I get a little woodworking in with home projects and some gardening, and when the weather is not too hot, I fire up the oven and bake artisan bread. We’re also a pet family, so our two young shelties get a lot of our attention; you’ll probably see pictures of them along the way.

My professional life has focused on project management, client relationships, and marketing communications in sports marketing, association management, and digital advertising.

I have worked with senior management and various boards of directors to craft strategic direction for multiple medical associations. In addition, I worked with clients to craft marketing communication, define audiences, and channel development, helping clients turn brand personas into targetable audiences.

Like any small or mid-sized company, the founders wear many hats. But my primary focus is working with clients to ensure they have excellent content on their websites by managing a team of writers. I find myself jumping between project management, creative writing/editing, and working with clients.

Away from work, I am the self-appointed family photo archivist, master doodler, and currently the in-house puppy trainer. Don’t look for us at the Westminster Dog Show — but our eager pups are learning to run a mean agility course.

Since 2018 I’ve worked on the SEO and creative side of digital advertising. From managing organic search profiles to blog and content production to small video editing and motion graphics projects, I’m working hard to ensure my history degree sees no professional use whatsoever.

Occasionally, video editing, hiking, dog walking, or weight lifting will distract me from my perennial pastime, procrastinating.

I began my marketing career by exploring the creative side of the industry. While working for Michigan State University, I had a hand in video production, graphic design, and copywriting.

Although the creative side of advertising will always have a special place in my heart, I am also an avid puzzle solver. Sudoku, jigsaw, you name it, I’ve spent an inappropriate number of hours on it. Thus, my current role as a Paid Media Specialist, developing campaigns and connecting my work to results, is fitting, engaging my problem-solving and pattern recognition skills.

When I’m not working or solving puzzles, I am turning pages in a good book, baking my favorite blondie dessert, or exploring my new city. The current exploration goal is to hit each restaurant on our bustling Chicago street.
